– Phil Spencer announced he will retire as Microsoft Gaming CEO after 38 years at Microsoft (will retire on February 23).
– Spencer began at Microsoft as an intern in 1988 and rose to prominence as head of Xbox Game Studios in 2014.
– Asha Sharma, current president of Microsoft’s CoreAI product, will become Executive Vice President and CEO, Microsoft Gaming.
– Xbox president Sarah Bond has resigned and will remain on as a Special Advisor to Asha Sharma to help ensure a smooth transition.
– Matt Booty will be promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer.
– Microsoft said gaming reaches over 500 million monthly active users; Spencer will remain in an advisory role through the summer.
